Shokz Starcraft 2 Guide Review

Review Summary: The Shokz Starcraft 2 Guide has set a new standard for guides with quality and content making it the top Starcraft 2 guide available.

The Shokz Guide is simply the best value for the money. The amount of content it offers is second to none, I was very impressed when I first logged into the members area and viewed all the strategies and guides. I think the best thing about the Shokz Guide is the actual quality of the guides, each strategy is filled with detailed instructions, screenshots and even videos making it easy to understand and follow which I didn't find in any other guide.

Starcraft 2 Strategies
The Shokz Guide has their strategies broken down into categories, General Guides, Terran Guides, Protoss Guides, Zerg Guides and 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 Guides. Each category has tons of Starcraft 2 Strategies that really help improve my game when playing on battle.net.

I'm mainly a Terran player and the Terran guides were excellent although I also learned a ton about Zerg and Protoss to help me counter their strategies when playing against them.

Guide Quality
As I mentioned above the quality of the Shokz Guide was what really impressed me. Unlike Star2Pros guide which each strategy was just a wall of text, the Shokz Guide has detailed screenshots explaining the pro strategies in great detail and videos. Every Strategy is split into sections that really breaks it all down for you with great formatting that really makes it easy to read.

The Videos guides on the Shokz Guide takes the guide to a whole new level. As Shokz has his own videos where he explains the strategies and shows you how they are done. The same can't be said for Star2Pros and StrategyMasters as both their guides include Youtube videos which are made by other people, or just replays of pro games that are found on Youtube.

Campaign Guide
Along with all the multiplayer strategies to get you into the Diamond league Shokz has been publishing his Wings of Liberty Campaign which is filled with screenshots and video commentaries of himself explaining how to beat each mission in the campaign.

Guide Features
  • Terran, Zerg and Protoss Strategies
  • FFA 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 Guides
  • Campaign Guide
  • Unit Guides
  • Build Orders
  • Map Editor Guides
  • Member Videos
  • And more.
After trying all the Starcraft 2 Guides I have to say that with out a doubt that the Shokz Guide is hands down the best Starcraft 2 Guide you are going to get. You get so much value for the money compared to the other Starcraft 2 Guides and the content and quality us unbeatable. This is why I gave the Shokz Guide a 10/10 and my top pick for the Starcraft 2 Guides.

Joana's Starcraft 2 Guide

Review Summary: Joana's Starcraft 2 Guide is a glorified unit guide, although is done very well and is aimed towards beginners of Starcraft 2. While this is nice unit guide is great for beginners it doesn't go much beyond that.

Joana's Guide is designed based upon each unit in the game. He breaks down each unit's letting you know which units they can counter and what units they are weak against. This will help a lot of players when they are first learning the game although for average level players I don't think the information will be that helpful, which is why Joana's Guide is a good guide for beginners.

Starcraft Strategies
Besides the breakdown of unit the guide also explains how to use each unit when facing each race which is a very nice feature. Joana will talk about how you can use the unit to your advantage depending on the race you are playing along with a couple strategies for the unit.

Joana's Guide does have a couple self made videos which are nice where he will break down some of his games and discuss strategies that he uses and what he could of done better. This is a nice feature which I like since the Shokz Guide is the other guide to do this. The rest of the Starcraft 2 Guides like SC2 Mastery Guide, and Star2Pros just show you videos made by usually HD and HuskyStarcraft.

How the guide compares
Again Joana's Guide is a great beginners guide and has a lot of great information which is why I've rated it the second best Starcraft 2 guide. Although considering that the Shokz Guide has a very similar if not better unit guide along with all the 100+ other strategies for Diamond level players, multiplayer match-ups and just about everything else in Starcraft, the Shokz Guide still remains the best Starcraft 2 Guide on the market and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Star2Pros Guide Review

Review Summary: The Star2Pros Guide promises a lot but fails to deliver. The guide not only lacks updates, but any real content that would be worth viewing.

I was really eager to try the Star2Pros guide as the site seemed full of promises although when I entered the members area for the first time found myself let down. Don't get me wrong Star2Pros isn't a bad guide, it's just not everything you would be hoping for in a Starcraft 2 Guide. The Starcraft 2 Strategies they do have are actually alright, but lack any real depth and are far to few of them.

The Guide
Star2Pros guide is a web based guide where you have to login to their members area and view their strategies on their website.  When I first accessed the members area and started reading through the strategies I found myself just staring at walls of text with no screen shots or images which made the strategies hard to read and not very engaging, unlink the Shokz Guide which is full of details and content.

No Terran Strategies
The strategies they have at Star2Pros as I said above are not bad although there is not a lot of them. There are only about 5 - 8 strategies per race and Terran actually doesn't have ANY! I've been a member there going on 2 months and the entire time I've had a membership to Star2Pros their has always been a notice that said "Terran Guides down for updates and will be up again soon".

One thing I was upset about was the video guides, their site claims to have Starcraft 2 Video guides although they are just youtube videos that were made by other people or youtube videos of Starcraft 2 pro replays which can be accessed for free.

Lack of Updates
I've been a member of the Star2Pros site for going on 2 months since I've been a member there has not been one single update to the site. There have been lots of updates to the homepage offering more promises but none in the members area. If the Author would put more time into the actually guide rather then promoting it then it would be much better off.

The Price
My biggest issue with the Star2Pros guide is the price. It cost $27 plus an additional $27 each month after. That is a total of $324 a year for a guide! I've been reviewing video game guides for a long time and I have never seen a guide priced so high. They claim that all updates are free, although I'm not sure then why there is a monthly fee.

Star2Pros Price

Final Thoughts
Star2Pros Guide is a guide that promises a lot but fail to delivers. Maybe in the future they may add some updates although till then it's hard to recommend this guide. The price is a real deal breaker, a $27 monthly fee is just a little to ridiculous to pay for a guide, but the decision is up to you.

Starcraft 2 Secerts Guide Review

Review Summary: Starcraft2Secerts Guide is made by T'Dub who is the author of 25+ different game guides ranging from Farmville to every other Facebook game online. T'Dub is known to make generic guides for any new game that is released, resulting in basic guides that lack any quality, updates or customer support.

Content from free sites!
After purchasing the Starcraft2Strategies guides I was very upset to find out that their beginners guide was simply stolen content take from sites such as SC2Armory.com, Starcraft2forums.org and other starcraft 2 community sites. I tried contact T'Dub on this issue although didn't receive any response.

Once you get into his Race specific guides is where the lack of real quality really shows through. He gives very basic information for each race and the content wouldn't even help a new player.

Each strategy he has listed is generally a paragraph long and doesn't go into any depth about how it should be pulled off or provide build orders for the strategies even though he advertises them on his site.

Stealing Images of Shokz and Joana
The thing I find most disturbing and makes me question if this author has ever even played Starcraft 2 is that the images on his site are Stolen profile images from the Shokz Guide and Joana's Starcraft 2 Guide.

If you take at the profile image on his site you can see in the placement matches towards the bottom Joana's name as this is the same Image from Joana's site of her Starcraft 2 profile.

Than a little bit down the page you will see a Score's screen and the top ranked player in the Score's screen is Shokz from the Shokz Guide as that image too is stolen right from Shokz site.

Conclusion
Overall this is a guide put out by a non-starcraft 2 player who I don't believe even owns the game that has stolen images / content from sites around the web to put together a low quality guide just to scam any unlucky customers. My advice is to stay as from this guy and his guide.
